Every serial number, on the stock record.
Momentum lets you record a serial number with a lot when stock is received, then lists every serialised item by product and location, on the same records as sales and the books.
Serial numbers often live in a spreadsheet kept beside the inventory system, and the two drift apart. In Momentum the serial number is entered at receiving and held on the stock record itself, so what you can look up matches what you hold.
Record the serial number at receiving
Enter the serial number together with the lot number, expiry date and manufacture date when stock arrives. Receive a lot of one unit for a unit-by-unit record.
A Serial Tracking report
The Serial Tracking report lists every serialised item and can be filtered by product, location and serial number, so you can find where a given serial is held.
Serial numbers show up in stock counts
Stock counts show each lot with its serial number, so counters check the unit in front of them against the record. A supervisor reviews and posts, and every difference is valued.
Stock by location
Stock is held per location, and transfers move stock between locations through requested, approved, dispatched, in transit and received. Missing units must be returned or written off, with a reason.
An audit trail on every movement
Every sale, receipt, transfer and write-off posts balanced double-entry journals per location, and every change is kept on a hash-chained audit log.
Tills that keep selling offline
Each till keeps a local copy of what it needs. Sales are saved on the device and sync when the connection returns, never twice.
What Momentum is not
The serial number is recorded on a lot at receiving. Momentum is not a warranty, repair or field-service system, and it does not track assets after sale. It has no online store, and card payments run on your existing terminal. If you need those, plan to use them alongside Momentum.
Yes. A serial number is recorded with a lot when stock is received. The Serial Tracking report then lists serialised items and can be filtered by product, location and serial number.
